Obituary for Albert Rush

Albert Rush, 59, of North East, Maryland passed away on Monday, May 17th, 2021 at Union Hospital in Elkton.

Al was born in Havre de Grace, Maryland and was a 1980 graduate of Glen Bernie High School. He graduated from Harford Community College with a degree in psychology and philosophy. He was known as “Big Al” in his circle of friends, and had a passion for nature, cooking, martial arts, cultural studies, theater, music, cinema, writing, and science fiction. He married Jane Creswell in June of 1995 and had three daughters: Claire, Erin, and Morgan. He worked in the Teen Diversion program at the Harford County Health Department for many years. Most recently, he worked as a security guard for G4S. He loved spending time with his daughters, frequenting Longwood Gardens, and creating and sharing new recipes.

He is preceded in death by his sister, Rosa, and his brothers, Davy and Robby.

Al is survived by his daughters, Claire Rush, Erin Kurceba (Kyle), Morgan Rush, his sister Ruby Bjertness, stepsister Anne Santee, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Susquehannock Wildlife Society, PBS, or the World Wildlife Fund.

The family of Al wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the doctors and nurses at Union Hospital.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, May 21st, at 6:30pm at the following location:
