Obituary for Barbara Kolb

Barbara Jean Kolb, age 67, of Detour Maryland, entered into her ultimate healing while resting in the arms of her loving husband, Charles Wayne Kolb, and surrounded by her family on November 24, 2022, Thanksgiving Day. She was born on April 25, 1955 in upstate New York to Lloyd and Beverly Gore. She is survived by her husband Charles Wayne Kolb, her daughter and son-in-law Angela and Erin Aylor, her daughter and son-in-law Melissa and James Meerdter, her son and daughter-in-law Christopher and Christine Kolb, her son Derek Kolb and significant other Kayla Wintsch. She was also mother to Isabel Rummel. Her grandchildren, Selena Smith, Ellie Kolb, Maple Aylor, Lucy Kolb, Sayde Kolb, Nora Meerdter and Rylee Kolb were her greatest joy. Barbara was known as "Mom to All," and gave a loving home to over 80 children as a foster mother throughout her lifetime. She is also survived by her siblings Peggy Kimerling, Robert Gore, David Gore, Janet Jirjis and multiple nieces and nephews. She is pre-deceased by her daughter Destiny Kolb as well as her parents Lloyd and Beverly. Barbara was very involved in Community Bible Study for 30 years. She loved baking, crafting, and reading but above all she loved spending time with her family. She lived her life with compassion, grace and humor even in the face of great adversity.

To hear her final testimony, attend her celebration of life via live stream or in person at Uniontown Bible Church, 4272 Watson Ln, Union Bridge, MD 21791 on Saturday January 21st at 1pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate a donation to one of the organizations that assisted and supported Barbara in her battle with ALS;

Team Gleason helped with Barbara's voice banking, a power wheelchair with lift capabilities, and was prepared to help with a family reunion "adventure" before Barbara became too weak to attend.

The ALS Association held caregiver conferences, helped procure medical equipment, and does the important work of lobbying congress on behalf of ALS research funding and to ensure patient access to much needed resources, care and treatments.
