Obituary for Clyde Smith
Clyde Frederic Smith age 87 passed away on November 19, 2020.
Visitation will be 11:00 AM until 12:30 PM Tuesday at Towne Baptist Church 536 Trimble Rd Joppa, MD 21085.
Funeral services will be held from 12:45 PM until 1:30 PM Tuesday immediately after the visitation and will be officiated by Pastor Ron Slayton and Co-officiated by Pastor Nathan Kaspar. Burial will follow at Bel Air Memorial Gardens after the services have been completed.
Clyde Smith was born in West Virginia to Luther Smith and Annie May White on May 6, 1933. He worked as an electrician for Bethlehem Steel for 40 years and was also a veteran during the Korean War and served in the United States Navy “Non sibi sed patriae”. He was a long-time active member of Towne Baptist Church, which he loved as well as bowling, riding his bicycle and walking around the neighborhood.. Clyde was an avid reader that always stopped to help his friends and family with their home improvement projects.
Clyde is preceded in death by his loving spouse Mary Smith, father and mother Luther and Annie May Smith, brothers Guy, Roy, James, David and Ernest Smith, sisters Alma Smith, Marcelle Mize and Nell Sachs.
Clyde is survived by his daughter Katie VanVeldhuizen and husband Troy, brother Martin Smith, sister Betty Scholl, grandchildren Liana and Alex Thrappas as well as his many nieces, nephews and friends.
Clyde Frederic Smith will be missed by all, however Heaven has gained a beautiful soul.
