Obituary for Jean Mercado

Jean Elizabeth Mercado, aged 50, of Churchville Maryland passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on the evening of Friday April 16th after heroically fighting an acute form of leukemia for a year. Jeannie leaves behind the loves of her life, her husband of almost 17 years Robert and their young son Robert Carrson. She is survived by her sister Susan Carr, nieces Meghan and Sarah Dowell, her sister in law Tammy Carr, father in law Roberto Mercado, brother in laws Rogaciano and Raymond Mercado and their wives Angela and Tiffani, their children Maritza, Patrick and Bella. She also leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and life-long friends. Jean was preceded in death by her older brother, Gregory Carr and their parents Earl and Dorothy Carr.

Jeannie lived life to its fullest. Always up for an adventure, Jean loved to travel, explore the unknown and try anything (and I mean anything!). She was very creative and artistic as displayed in her story telling, the albums she created as a scrapper and the elaborate birthday cakes she created for Bobby. Her love of art is evident in her most prized possessions – drawings and paintings from her son and husband (and Salvador Dali). Her son Bobby is the culmination of her greatest wish. When asked if she preferred to work while her husband stayed at home with their son she explained that she had dreamt of being a mother her whole life. She honored that dream as devoted mother ensuring in word and action that Bobby knew he was loved, wanted and cherished.

Jeannie brought joy and love to all that knew her and she will be profoundly missed. Her legacy will live on through those who knew her and loved her deeply.

Services for Jean are as follows:
Viewing and visitation will be held at St. Patrick’s Church (the church hall specifically) in Havre De Grace on Friday April 23rd from 9am to 1030am.
A memorial mass will be held at the church hall immediately following the viewing.
